Shito-Ryu is one of the four main styles of Karate, focusing on both hard and soft techniques. The style was founded by Kenwa Mabuni, whose primary tutors were Anko Itosu (Shuri-te) and Kanryo Higaonna (Naha-te).
Mabuni also sought instruction from a number of other teachers; including Seishō Aragaki, Tawada Shimboku, Sueyoshi Jino and Go Kenki, a Chinese Chuan Fa practitioner.
